Being Prepared for Black Friday

Black Friday has grown so much in just a few short years. I remember 5 or 6 years ago the first year that I had heard of it. Amazon were running offers throughout the week, and I was searching for perfect Christmas presents. Since then more and more retailers have joined in, and now it is quite frankly, mayhem!

Shops bring in additional security, open earlier, and cram as much as they can on the shelves. All to prepare for us, the general public, out for the best offer we can get.

Honestly, I have never done an in store Black Friday sale. The horror stories scare me far too much. And I do like to shop from the comfort of my own home, or even the staff room on my lunch break at work!

2016 was the biggest Black Friday yet. Over £1.2 billion was spent in just one day.  Over 8 million sales were made online, and 42% of that was from a mobile device.

Isn’t it handy being able to shop directly from your mobile phone? In a lot of ways though it is too easy, you can spend money without really thinking about it.

Stay safe online this Black Friday

With so many people converting to online shopping, it is really important to be cyber-aware. ao.com have put together some information about staying safe when shopping online.

Black Friday

Keep your computer and your mobile devices safe with anti-virus software. Often people forget to put anti-virus protection on mobile devices but when shopping online it is so important.

Stay aware of scams, I am a firm believer that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. Just remaining aware of potential scams will help you to protect yourself.

Remember a credit card is safer then a debit card for purchases. Credit cards offer you a lot more payment protection if you have a problem with an order.

Be aware of public wi-fi hotspots, another way for fraudsters to track your information.

What will you be shopping for this Black Friday?

Now you know how to stay safe when shopping, what do you plan on buying? TV’s seem to be the most popular purchase. I have never bought a TV on Black Friday, usually because I am too busy Christmas shopping.

Me personally, I’ll be found under a blanket hunting for the best deals. If it is electrical’s you are after, ao have already released some of there deals.

I will be keeping an eye out mainly for Christmas presents. Harry is after a camera, and I really want a go-pro, so they will be on my list this year. And between three children they have huge Christmas lists, so I will be working through the list trying to find the best deals.

If you are going shopping this Black Friday, in store or online, good luck, and I hope you manage to pick up those all important bargains.
