Decorating the children’s bedrooms is always something I have loved, when we were renting I had to keep things simple. Since moving into our own house decorating the children’s rooms has been on my mind a lot. We decided that Matilda’s room would be done first. In the next few months Arthur will be moving into what is currently my office. So we can decorate both boys rooms then. My first port of call of designing my little girls bedroom was Pinterest. The problem is there are so many amazing and wonderful ideas and I have spent months trying to decide on a theme.
When looking for inspiration I loved the idea of her having a mini photo wall with a combination of photos and inspirational quotes. I knew straight away one quote I wanted and the theme has been taken from there.
I just love this quote for a little girls room. I am going to frame it in a simple white frame. I ordered from Etsy, a store called Celstial Quotes, they are lovely.
Now we have decided the colour scheme will be a rose pink with coppers and gold tones throughout. We haven’t yet decided if we should use wallpaper on one wall or just wall art. But I have been making a mood board and trying different pink shades. I love having a daughter and embracing the feminine touches, but I never imagined her having a pink bedroom, I just don’t like the typical baby pink cliche. But I think we can make these colours work, without making her room look like a big marshmallow!
I have made a board on Pinterest with tons of inspiration, but I also wanted to make my own mood board at home. Matilda had so much fun picking out bedding from the Next catalogue and choosing tester pots of paint in B&Q. And I really enjoyed putting things together to make this little spread. I have plenty more ideas but I will save some of them for the big reveal.
I am hoping to get to work on decorating in the next few weeks, I will be back with a room tour when it is finished.
