Are you planning to host a kids party? Over the last 8 years I have thrown a few parties, from small tea parties to big parties with 40 children. Now I’m not saying I’m an expert at it, but we have certainly learn’t some things along the way.
Top Tips for a children’s party
So with that in mind I thought I would share with you all my top tips for a fab childrens party.
Number 1 Think about numbers, do you really need to invite their entire class/nursery. Can you just invite the children that they genuinely play with and talk about.
Number 2 Make a budget and stick to it. Some people will have a huge amount of money to spend on a party. Others will be trying to get it all done low cost. Whatever your budget it, your child will be happy, whether its a few friends at home or a huge party.
Number 3 Food, remember your numbers, and remember they are children not the entire zoo. I have children with big appetites, and I have been known to do way too much food for a party. Lesson learned. Also remember, there is no need for anything too fancy. A few sandwiches, sausage rolls and pizzas will do. Just don’t forget some sugary treats to go with it, it is a party after all.
Number 4 Choose a theme that isn’t too difficult to achieve. If your child is in to a particular cartoon, hunt down the party wear for that cartoon. Most children’s programmes and films have a whole range of supplies. It makes decorating so much easier. If you don’t want a set theme sticking to a basic colour scheme will help.
Number 5 Balloons. Do you really need to pay a fortune for fancy helium balloons in all the shapes and sizes? No. Head to Card Factory, grab a couple of their cheap helium balloons, they last for ages. Then just inflate some normal balloons, and throw them around the floor. The children will love to play with them.
Number 6 Games. Depending on if you have booked an entertainer you may need to think about games. If you are again keep things simple. If the party is 2 hours, you can set aside a good 20 to 30 minutes for food and cake. You only really need maybe 4 games. The children will happily run around making their own fun to a little bit of music too.
Number 7 lastly, party bags. Lets be honest here, I hate party bags. I put myself under so much pressure to get them right, I NEED to have good party bags right? No. Who actually looks at them? oh yes, the children, what are they looking for in a party bag, plastic noisy stuff and maybe some Haribo. Do the other mums care what you have put in? No, I barely look at the bags my children have bought home from a party. So keep it simple, it doesn’t matter if its the same as every other party bag, because to the children its still bloody amazing!
Review – Paw Patrol Party Set
I have been sent this party set from the lovely people at Party Bags & Supplies and as you can see from some of the photos above, it is wonderful. You can see on their website they have a whole range of different party sets available, which will make planning your party a whole lot easier.
This set came complete with a table cloth, 8 plates, 8 cups, napkins and 8 filled party bags. Amazing, completely takes away that party bag stress.
Inside each party bag was a key chain, a spinning top, a whistle, and bracelet and a shooter game, which was a huge hit with the children. Something I wasn’t expecting was for the items inside the bag to be themed as well. The children were really happy to see the Paw Patrol gang on all of the toys too.
I pulled it all out of the box to show the children, and Arthur’s face lit up. It was Paw Patrol heaven. I think he will try and make the paper cups last for as long as possible.
