Review – Memphis mid-sleeper bed

I am back for a Monday Mention, I didn’t post last Monday because I got abit carried away with the bank holiday and before I knew it Tuesday was here.

Monday Mention

Last week we visited B&M Bargains, and I got a little carried away, as soon as I walked in I was finding bargains and finding it hard not to add things to the trolley, after all we always need breakfast cereal, why not buy it in bulk…

Anyway our main purchase when we were in there was a new bed for Matilda, the Memphis mid-sleeper bed, which is made by Steens. If you have never seen the Steens range you should check them out, they have some really well thought out beds that can last a long time.

We didn’t actually plan to buy Matilda a bed, in fact really the higher priority was to buy the boys bunk beds, but this bed was in B&M Bargains for just £160 including the pink tent, which I am not so keen on but of course Matilda loves. Prices I have found online show the tent alone to cost £60 and the bed around £250 so a definite bargain.

We managed to squeeze it in the car, and got home and James started putting it together straight away. I stayed out of the way and done the kids dinner to keep them out from under his feet too. I kept going to check if he needed any help and expected to hear him muttering under his breath, but he wasn’t.

It took him a good couple of hours to put it all together, and the only help he really needed was holding one end in place whilst he screwed the other end in when putting the head and foot boards on.

It is a really good solid bed and feels like great quality. All of the screws are concealed which gives it a nice clean finish and any screws on the inside of the frame that you can see have covers too.

Matilda is madly in love with her new bed, she loves that she has a ladder, in fact all of the kids love the ladder, it has become a big playing point in the house. At the moment we have kept the tent on to make a little den for them, but I plan to get a bean bag and make a reading nook underneath and once that is finished the tent will be coming off.

As Matilda is in the box room it always feels a little untidy and cluttered, I had wanted a mid-sleeper to give her more space and make the room feel bigger. At first it actually made the room feel smaller because it is such a huge bed, but once its tidied up it looks fab, she has her Barbie house and dolls bed underneath, and as above I will be turning one corner into a reading nook.

It has turned her room into somewhere that she really wants to be.

Hi thankyou, the garland was bought from Next, but I have had it a couple of years, I’m not sure if they do something similar. xx

Thankyou, it was a real bargain I just couldn’t resist it. Should have probably saved the money and got bunk beds though. x

This is such a lovely little bed! We are trying to decide between putting both our girls in together in bunks, or getting a sleeper bed for the youngest, as her room is small. This one is swaying me towards that option! Becky x #HomeEtc

I do love the sleeper, but I’m also super excited to get bunk beds for the boys. x

What a bargain! It looks great and really sturdy. I also think the fact that it gives more storage makes it so practical, plus it’s just more fun climbing a ladder into bed when you’re a kid! 🙂 #HomeEtc

The ladder has been such a great game for them all, a little tedious but they love it! x
